STELMA T.S.A. has the necessary knowhow to meet all of its clients’ needs in regards to the preparation and subsequent anti-corrosion treatment of surfaces. Our experience combined with our state of the art technical equipment allow us to provide the following solutions that meet every requirement:
Abrasive blasting/ Metal blasting
This is a time-tested and successful method for the anti-corrosion protection of various surfaces. STELMA T.S.A. is advancing in technology and possesses the most advanced abrasive blasting equipment, including blasting tower, vacuum blasting systems, vacuum recovery systems, automated blasting pots, automated systems for interior blasting of pipes, etc.

Mechanical cleaning
This is the conventional, alternative to blasting, method of surface preparation with the use of mechanical and/or manual means such as air-operating brushes, electric wheels, rust – and paint-removing hammers and special tools, orbital sanders, etc. Due to the fact that a degree of roughness/surface preparation analogous to abrasive blasting cannot be achieved, STELMA has added specialized mechanical cleaning tools to its equipment, such as needle guns and MBX bristle blasters.

Dry ice blasting
Dry ice blasting is an innovative and environmentally friendly method to clean/prepare surfaces. STELMA T.S.A., having completed a vast number of projects in Greece and abroad, promotes environmentally friendly solutions.
In dry ice blasting, the dry ice (solid phase CO2) is transferred at great speed (180 – 330 m/s) with a current of compressed air and crashes onto the surface, creating micro-explosions in order to detach any dirt/foreign bodies from the substrate. The great advantage of this method is that the surface can be cleaned while hot or even operational, without producing any pollutants that are harmful for the operator or the surrounding machinery.
Areas of Application:
- Power Generation Plants
- Oil Refineries
- Heavy Industry
- Food Industry
- Shipyards
- Electronic and Electrical Installations
- Archaeological and Historic Monuments

Hydroblasting
Hydro-blasting is an alternative method of cleaning for various surfaces, such as steel, stone, cement, plastic and wood, through blasting with a high-pressure water jet. It is an effective surface cleaning method, primarily applied in the shipbuilding industry where it replaces sandblasting. The process includes the initial wash-down and the final cleaning with water blasted at high pressures over 1.500 bar (UHP). STELMA T.S.A. owns hydro-blasting systems for low-pressure (340 bar), medium pressure (up to 680 bar) and high pressure (High Pressure Water Jetting– up to 1700 bar); the company is in the process of investing in an Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting system, from 1700 to 3000 bar in the upcoming period.

Soda blasting
Soda blasting is an environmentally friendly cleaning method for marble, polyester, carbon fibre and aggregate surfaces. The process involves applying sodium bicarbonate to the surface with air pressure through a special jet.

Chemical cleaning
This is a special cleaning method, implemented under certain conditions and at the Clients’ request. The effectiveness of the method is determined by the chemical cleaning agent used, depending on the surface to be cleaned and the types of pollutants/ sediment accumulated on it.
